Hi,

If You want to use Your ProTypeTitler Collection from version 9abc do this :

1) find location of COLLECTIONS :

users/me/appdata/roaming/sony/titler1.0/collections/*.xml

2) open COLLECTION which You would like to use with NOTEPAD

3) delete section connected with gradient fill (example like below) :

<gradientfill>
<Enabled>true</Enabled>
<Gradient>
<Points alternatetype="Sony.MediaSoftware.TextGen.CoreGraphics.XmlColorFloat,CoreGraphics">
<element>
<key>
<double>0</double>
</key>
<value>
<XmlColorFloat color="1,0.9803922,0.9803922,0.9411765" />
</value>
</element>
<element>
<key>
<double>1</double>
</key>
<value>
<XmlColorFloat color="1,0.9294118,0.4627451,0.1529412" />
</value>
</element>
</Points>
</Gradient>
</gradientfill>

4) save file

5) open Vegas, insert generated media, use protitler, use collection, use gradient fill option (configure it from scratch), save collection

DONE.

Best regards.

appendix :

Even if Your old COLLECTION file is NOT using GRADIENT FILL - then section connected with GRADIENT looks like this :

<gradientfill>
<Enabled>false</Enabled>
</gradientfill>

... you still HAVE TO DELETE this section.

I have noticed that older collections have not very user friendly xml notations (mess in notepad) - you still can open it as xml in internetexplorer and recognize begin and end of gradient fill section.

Well done on tracking this done. But again, relating to the "other" issues, why should we be futzing about with this? Knowing me I would get into all sorts of trouble and if an enthusiastic noob presents an issue at the door of Madison, how and where would they start in debuggin our "friend's" adaption of the code?

Again a plea to well-meaning issue trackers - place a warning message with your "fixes". Apart from anything else, maybe this would make a person's licenced copy "void"? - I said "might".

Now, if SCS were to come here, and put their blessing on this fix - well, set up the Bar! - Mine's a Pint of "London Pride"! Eyee Thank very much!

Best regards

"Now, if SCS were to come here..."

Actually, that might solve a host of issues, both real and perceived.

If somebody uses your suggestion and breaks the SONY program, will you fix it for them?

Editing an XML file isn't going to break anything providing you back it up and save it as any document (even then, you could always reinstall).

Much like editing a registry entry (but a lot easier), If a person doesn't feel comfortable doing it, then they shouldn't .

I think the bigger issue is why everyone puts up with all these problems. It's hysterical to read all the posts pertaining to problems and dissatisfaction. I suppose it's like a bad or abusive relationship? "Better to have something, then nothing at all" (wink)

> Editing an XML file isn't going to break anything providing you back it up and save it as any document (even then, you could always reinstall). - yeah . . righto .. what's an XML file? - You're making my point for me here.

> If a person doesn't feel comfortable doing it, then they shouldn't . - "But Mum, it was only ONE match - Honest!!!"

> I think the bigger issue is why everyone puts up with all these problems. - Who's saying that?

Thanks for making my points for me - again.

Hi Grazie,

I'm not sure but You probably think XML script is a part of source Vegas code. It's not - it is document created by me. Because it is a script language it is easy to open even edit in external editor like notepad.

I have about 20 presets (collections). I have red on forum that there is problem if collection were created in 9abc and are opened in 9d AND gradient fill is used. I have checked if error is present in my system : confirmed error. My fist idea was : gays from SCS compiled Vegas 9d with new libraries and have forgoten that xml's collection script wants to use older version of library. So I had cut uncomfortable part of script and have achieved good result. Then I have done the same with all my collections (it takes about 10 minutes) and now all are ready to use (usage in 9d with gradient will overwrite old script with new section connected with gradient).

I suppose SCS very soon should give us a patch to correct this problem.

But ...

... more likely they can't do this because they have changed compiler version or environment version or whatsover and can't come back to older version of library.

You know them better then me. This case is tricky beacuse error in update causes that customers are loosing their property.

Anyway my collections are safe !

Hi Grazie,

Probably You are right I should give some warning connected with this tip. Especially I should remark : "do not use with default scripts (bounce, drop split, dropping words and other not market with X sign (not custom)) because these scripts are not Yours - were created by SCS". To be honest - these scripts are unusable in this moment (in terms of law : we have bought software "as it is" and we have not rights to change anything, So You can't use deafault preset with gradient (red screen will ocur)).

Other scripts are mine (can edit, can share) but should be saved in backup before editing.

All your points are well made and I appreciate you going the extra mile to make your determination here to see everybody understand the limits - well done!

As you say, it's really over to SCS to remark on your finding and as such consideration as to what is the way forward.

My invitation to you, as always, is to log this in with their technical staff for their consideration and, hopefully, their comments.

Best regards
