9e/preview settings question

BobMoyer wrote on 5/23/2010, 8:06 AM
I have a project that I built in 9b/c (32bit). I have loaded into 9e and noticed that I had set the preview settings at "Preview-Auto". I thought I would change that to "Best-Auto or Full". However, the setting won't stick. I had put the cursor at the beginning before changing the setting, but the setting goes back to "Preview-Auto" once the veg starts to play. If I manually place the cursor 'anywhere' on the T/L, I get my desired preview setting, but once again when I start the play back the setting jumps back to "Preview-Auto"

Any idea what I may have done wrong? Any idea how I can correct this?

Thank you.

Bob

This is a result of one of the many new "Features" built into Pro 9.0.
From the Readme:

Right-click the Video Preview window and select Adjust Size and Quality for Optimal Playback if you want to emphasize frame rate during preview.
When the command is not selected, video quality is emphasized, and the frame rate will be reduced if necessary.

Mike,
Thanks for the quick reply. That definitely solves my problem. I saw that mentioned in the 'Readme' but had no idea what it really meant since it still gave you the visual options at the top of the preview window.

Bob, I'm always glad to help out a fellow Vegas user.
Happy editing :-)

Okay, I downloaded 9.03 and it worked fine until I did a Windows update, then the preview and playback features pretty much turned into a montage of stills. I tried everything people suggested here and nothing made it better. So I uninstalled Vegas, then re-installed 9.0b from the box and everything works fine again. Whew.

I can live without 9.0e, I reckon. The old saying is true: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
