A/B Roll Style Editing, Cutaways

Okay, I'm still a rank beginner here but I like A/B roll style editing. It's easy for me to put cutaways in the upper video track.... but now when I want to move the main event on the lower video/audio tracks, how do I lock those cutaways in place to move with the associated main event? Any advice most welcome. Thanks

Take a look at grouping. Select the related events using cntl-left-click. Then right click and choose group.

I think this is what you are looking for.

Orcatek, Thank you. Your procedure worked perfectly. Now may I ask one other simple "how to" (for now). How do re-sync my audio track to its associated video track when the two tracks have become separated? Thanks

Assuming your audio and video clips are the exact lenght, you can set a marker at the beginning of the video clip and move the audio clip's beginning to line up with it--takes just a few seconds.

There is an add-on script that you can purchase that re-syncs audio and video (someone will chime in to tell me which one it is). Also, Vegas 6 can now do this.

Excalibur and Ultimate S do this, and if I recall, there is a freebie on the VASST site. Plus, as you say....Vegas 6 does this.
You can also right click a file, tell it to open in Trimmer, and video/audio are auto resynced, and if you click the A key, it will add it back to the timeline if you have the cursor placed and the track selected.
Or, you could right click, drag it to the event it came from, and drop on as a take.
