A couple of DVD Architect questions

Randy Brown wrote on 2/9/2003, 2:55 PM
Hey all,
1) How do I save markers in V4 so that DVD Architect will recognize them as chapter settings? (Help states to select the option but I cant find where to select the option).
2) Do you think it makes a difference if one renders to mpeg or avi prior to bringing into DVD Architect
3) What abbreviation will we use for DVD Architect, DA?
TIA,
Randy

Randy,

1) - place your curser where you want your chapter point and hit "m" for marker. This will do the trick. Bring your project into DVD Architect and either go off of the markers set in Vegas or change/reset them in DVDA

2) I'm hearing now that projects are for some rendering quicker if you let DVD Architect take the .avi and render it to MPEG2. I'll be testing it this week to see if it's true.

3) DVDA is what I'm seeing as the abbreviation/acronym. Just know that whatever you call it, it rocks!

Thanks Cheno,
I did know enough to place markers in V4, I just couldn't find the "save markers with file" option, but I think the option wasn't coming up because the short selection I had made ( to test with)only had one marker in it.
I have another question now though: Can I not actually burn a DVD with the demo version (I bought V4 alone since I bought Movie Factory only a couple of weeks ago)? I worked for a couple of hours getting my chapters just right and went to "Make DVD" and then "Prepare DVD" and DVDA stated "The demo version does not allow file preparation, purchase Vegas + DVD..."
The only experience I've had burning DVDs is with the 3 that I burned with Movie Factory so I'm not even sure what the file preparation is. When I click on "burn" it wants to know where the "prepared" folder is, so I'm guessing I can't even burn it?
I guess I'll try to get a fresh start in the morning to see if it makes sense.
Thanks again for your response Cheno,
Randy

hi guys. i am thinking about upgrading to vegas+dvd but the more i read different posts here, the more i get confused. please clarify. i don't always edit videos i capture. oftentimes, i just want to capture it using an mpeg2 capture card and author the mpeg2 file to burn to a dvdr. does DVDA only accept files rendered in vegas 4 or could i also use DVDA to author mpeg2 files wihtout passing thru Vegas4? i read somewhere in this forum that DVDA takes two separate streams of audio(ac3) and video. does that mean i have to demux my mpeg2 files to separate the streams before going into dvda? i am so confused, could u guys tell?

DVDA will accept DVD compliant MPEG2 files. They DON'T have to be created in Vegas.
