Hi,

Just a quick question on A/D conversion. Would a device like the Canopus ADVC100 produce better results than a regular sony handycam in passthru mode when capturing some old VHS tapes into Digital Video ?

I have both and I must say that as far as actual quality goes, my naked eye does not see a difference. But that is coming my a very untrained naked eye! I would imagine that if there is a quality difference, canopus would edge out the camera. However, the convience of having the canopus always hooked up for analog capture, preview on my TV and printing to vcr is well worth it to me. Not to mention, I am saving some wear on my camera. I just couldn't go back to having to constantly set up my camera for conversions and preview now that I have a dedicated box. I highly recomend the canopus! -Shon
