A - D Passthru

I was trying to capture some video from my VCR passing thorugh my Sony TRV340 to the computer with the firewire.

When I played the video I could see and hear it on the preview screen in vf. However, when ever I clicked on Capture Video button, it would start the tape and capture that.

I ended up having to record the video onto the DV tape then capture it on the computer.

Can I simply passthru the camera to the PC without having to record to DV tape first?

I thought for sure I did this before. I know I have done it in reverse. Played from the PC and recorded to the vcr w/o the DV tape even installed.

There is surely a more sophisticated method someone with more knowledge might point out, but here is a crude method you could try: Leave the tape door open.

In VidCap, click on Options / Preferences. Under the General tab, remove the checkmark from Enable DV Device Control.
