A few general questions (VP Edit 14)

(Vegas Pro Edit 14)

Is it possible to save a project and then have it re-open with your cursor position? my projects always reset me to the beginning of the timeline when I re-open them and its kind of annoying when you're doing work in sections and want to come back where you left off.

For some of the editing I am currently doing, I zoom in to frame level on the time line (0,1,2,3,4,etc). Is there a way to jump X number of frames, right now if I want to make big jumps I have to use the scrollbar and thats kind of inaccurate at times. I'd like to jump by 5 or 10 frames at a time (I'm mainly looking for scene changes) or even a custom number of frames.

I've noticed when I open a clip in the trimmer to find my in-point and then insert onto timeline, it moves the cursor to the end of that clip on the track. Is there a way to insert onto timeline, at the position the cursor is, and stay there? Or at least jump to the beginning/end of individual clips on a track?

I've tried looking through keybind options, but I can't find anything that let's you for instance, define a key to navigate by "X" frames or anything. Maybe I'm just being a retard though idk.

So far not possible to re-open project with the same previous location cursor position, but alternatively, you can use marker tool (shortcut key M) to mark anything in your timeline, including the temporary position of your editing point, which can be removed later.

Hope helps,

I don't think so but you could hit M then ENTER on your keyboard before you exit to make a marker to return to.

Also, mouse-wheel timeline zoom helps a lot for quick navigation, as well as SHIFT+mouse-wheel for scrolling the timeline.

...(I'm mainly looking for scene changes)...

Select the track your events are on then hold CTRL+ALT and press the left or right arrow to get to the next edit point (which will include the ends of fades etc.).

It should be possible for someone to write a script to jump a certain number of frames forwards or backwards if that is important to you. Such a script may already exist.

Please avoid the language in your last sentence which may offend some members. Thank you.

What I meant by scene changes was not the edits I'm making but that those are what I'm looking for / making edits on in the imported clips. I haven't really done anything with events so CTRL + ALT and L/R arrow just takes me to the beginning / end of the entire project (which is weird because I do have at least one fade I added)

The jumping X frames just makes the searching process go faster, so that's why I'd want to use it. Zooming in/out of frame level to skip frames would just be tedious for me in this case, and I may miss very short scenes changes if I zoom out to navigate quicker

Perhaps you didn't select the track with the events on it first. If you just have one long event on your timeline then there would be no edit points to jump to.

Maybe you could try to go Options>Preferences>Video>Thumbnails to show in video events>All, then drag your video track to be taller so the thumbnails are bigger, then scroll through the timeline with SHIFT+mousewheel.

I don't know what went wrong the first time, the program indicated that the track was selected. However I selected another track and then went back to the track in question and the edit events are now jumpable.

Shift + mousewheel does help alleviate the problem somewhat. Thank you

If you leave a marker where you left off in the edit, after you reopen the project CTRL+ RIGHT ARROW will take you to the Next marker. If you only have one marker, that will bring you to where you left off.

In my previous post I meant to say TALLER video track, not smaller. Sorry. I've now edited it.
