Have any of you hot PC recording enthusists taken a look at
Digi001 by digidesign ? It is very similar to what Vegas
looks like. I've used both, and really fell in love with it.
It comes with Pro Tools LE and of course the PCI card and
breakout box and some efx plugins. It's not currently out
for PC (supposedly anyday now...) but I think I am making
the jump. What do you think ? Pro Tools is definately
industry standard in the digital PC realm of recording. Any
thoughts or words of encouragement ?

Yes, Pro Tools is the "Standard" but remember these things about
Digi001 - you're stuck with limited tracks (I think 24), you're stuck
with THAT hardware, a light version of the software and a program, in
my opinion, which is far inferior in terms of flexibility,
compatibility, speed and editing tools. Take a hard look at the new
beta of Vegas and the improvements in the audio features - envelopes,
time compression expansion and pitch shift as well as the general
support for ALL windows supported sound cards, unlimited audio and
video tracks, support for all internet formats, etc. Granted, I'm a
PC and SF person, but I've used Pro Tools and started on Sound
Designer and found that after switching I could never go back!!

Hope this helps.
