a simple question

I am a newbie, therefore this simple question.

I inserted a CD-track to my video. But what to do if I want to higher or lower the volume in the video? Not in the loudspeaker but in the video. I mean, in some part of my film I want to have a lower volume, and then up to normal again. What to do? I have tested a lot of ways, but no....

If you right click on the track header and select Insert Envelope > Volume, a line will appear. Even easier way - hit the "V" key.

Double clicking on this line produces nodes which can be dragged up or down to vary volume.

You can drag the nodes themselves, or the line between two of them.

Insert an Audio volume envelope. It looks like a blue line along the track. You can add points to it (doubleclick) and pull them up or down to change the volume. If you rightclick a point you can set the volume precisely by writing a number in a box.

..... and make sure that "Show Volume Envelopes" is On (button on the toolbar).

To avoid confusion and hair pulling:

That particular button is not on the toolbar by default. You must add it through Customize Toolbar.
