A/V playback stutter in trimmer only

When I'm previewing in the trimmer, my audio AND video stutter at the top of every second. This doesn't happen in the explorer or on the timeline. It's annoying more than anything else, but if anyone has found what causes this, I'd appreciate some insight

This is caused by the Explorer and the Trimmer being unbuffered playback. The timeline is always buffered. But if you're dealing with DV, you shouldn't be getting any stutter, unless your system simply can't handle the unbuffered stream, but that would be odd.
System resources available?

I'll have to check it out. It's a dedicated box with a P4 2.8 and a gig of ram; dedicated 7200 HD with 8MB cache. Of course, the drive is full, so that may be part of the problem. I'll see if I can turn a few things off and cleanup a bit and see what that does. Thanks.
