A/V separating

i have a timeline where every time I drag an A/V clip from the trimmer, they appear together but are unlocked..i.e. moving on eleaves the other behind.
Is there a setting that causes this?

Check that "Ignore Event Grouping" a (toolbar icon or under the Options menu) didn't accidentally get enabled.
