one question, guys:

when you're using only one portion of a video file in your project, when you want save the project, using the "save media with project" function, if you only want to save the part of the file you're using you have to select "create trimmed copies.."???

Right??

this doesn't work with me, the all file is copied!!!

is there a reason??

please, tell me if I missed something!!

thx in advance, guys!!

You probably have MPEG or maybe windows media source material? Those two (as well as any others that don't support "no-recompress" rendering) won't be trimmed, so the entire file gets copied. .AVI and .wav do get trimmed- try it.

it doesn't work with avi!!

it's a divx, does it matter??

Yes, DIVX is actually an MPEG even though it has an AVI extension. IT is closer to MPEG 4.

Pardon my ignorance, but is this regarding a so-called destructive edit? I have been trying to figure out how to drop portions of a file and I'm wondering if I've stumbled upon it. Thanks

Yes, trimming and saving this way is destructive and that trimmed clip can be saved to another location, allowing you to delete the original, untrimmed clip.
