I have not used this specific device before, but I will say that sometimes these types of devices require you to use a codec the device supports. Sometimes this is a CODEC that the device manufacture supplies, or a codec with specific size and bitrate requirements. Hardware decoders can have pretty specific requirements.

I did see this ** on the AJA site referring to Vegas support:
**Sony Vegas requires specific legacy driver versions to work with AJA hardware. Please consult the Sony Vegas documentation to determine the specific card and driver versions supported in your version of Sony Vegas.

Build 453 release notes:
* When using an AJA SDI device, AJA driver version 10.1 is required for audio and video preview. Do not use driver version 10.3.
* For best results when previewing audio through an SDI video preview device, please turn off Video Preview on External Monitor before loading a project or changing project formats.

The Vegas Help file has recommendations on setup.

You may need to contact Vegas support.

don't know the device either, but i've found that using the latest drivers for my intensity pro sometimes clears up such problems.
