About to do a ZIppy

I was going to do a Zippy this morning, after looking at my PC screen, you know the thing, everyone else is wrong I must be right, gimme the answer I cannot be bothered to actually think the problem out first, anyway I digress..

I set Vegas on capture last night, to load my wedding, got up this morning and there is only 15 clips in the capture. Quick look and loads seem missing Oh no I thought how can that be, all the settings are correct, looking closer all footage had been captured but not in clips as I assumed it would be. Some clips at the end had split correctly, they were added after the wedding from my MiniDV camera.

After the initial get on the forum and rant, I had a think, why do clips split, not time code that's continuous, ker-chink the penny dropped, the machine had been in for repair and a quick look at the clock on the Camera reveled the clock had not been set, doh.... ahh, why had some clips split, i had noticed in the past that for some odd reason , a very long clip with no breaks would for what ever reason split.

SO
no clock set = no split video.

I rest my case, me laud....

I had exactly the same problem a year or so ago.
I know there's a script that will split all your clips if you got *this* problem now... : )

I never have to read Zippy anymore. I clicked the "Ignore this user" last summer and have never looked back. Makes my time on forums much nicer.

I would like the script if you know where i can find it, will look on Spot's site.

How can it split a clip if the time code is continuous? I have seen ones that use visual clues, would be intrigued to see this.

Thanks for all the replies, I have now completed the Video Wedding, never knew how much easier clips made the whole process for editing, which is odd as when I use the Casablanca video editor. I use to capture an hour or so at a time and happily trim and add to the time line.

I did find that one clip had split for no reason in the middle of a speaking part so had to capture that again, odd as no mentioned above as no clock, so not sure what it basis a split is due, I do have a min of 1 second for splits.

Zippy, not many people get a saying after them, perhaps you have the most unusual way of posting, that "doing a Zippy" means just that.

"Learn from the mistakes of others.
You won't live long enough to make all of them yourself"
