AC-3 Audio Level issue

Folks,
I've rendered a soundtrack to AC-3 2.0 output and another straight mpg (audio only channel). Both are using the same vegas setup, yet the audio output is signficantly different. Is there a way to keep the output when rendering to AC-3 at the level I'd expect? Basically the rendering that DVD-A does for the menu background sound doesn't "reduce" the files audio output level, yet my rendered version does significantly reduce the audio level? Any guidenance would be much appreciated.

Perhaps you need to create a custom template for AC-3 rendering. The presets may not necessarily meet your needs.

OK. I have read the linked material. And will verify, although I had been through the many combinations of these parameters with no luck.

What settings are used to convert menu background audio to AC-3? Basically these files stay at "original" levels. To replicate this would be ideal. Thank You, Jay
