AC-3 Audio Level issue

Folks,
I've rendered a soundtrack to AC-3 2.0 output and another straight mpg (audio only channel). Both are using the same vegas setup, yet the audio output is signficantly different. Is there a way to keep the output when rendering to AC-3 at the level I'd expect? Basically the rendering that DVD-A does for the menu background sound doesn't "reduce" the files audio output level, yet my rendered version does significantly reduce the audio level? Any guidenance would be much appreciated.

Jay

Perhaps you need to create a custom template for AC-3 rendering. The presets may not necessarily meet your needs.

Here is a web page that briefly discusses the dialogue normalization, dynamic range control, and downmixing settings:

Also there is a lot of information available on the Dolby web site (www.dolby.com) you may want to take a look at.

OK. I have read the linked material. And will verify, although I had been through the many combinations of these parameters with no luck.

What settings are used to convert menu background audio to AC-3? Basically these files stay at "original" levels. To replicate this would be ideal. Thank You, Jay
