The AC3 plug-in is part of the V4+DVD package, but does not come with V4 by itself.

You might be thinking of the Video Vegas plug-in pack (http://sonicfoundry.com/products/showproduct.asp?PID=682), which is still available as a separate purchase for VV3 users but comes as part of V4.

You can upgrade to DVDA for $299.. like getting either the AC3 encoder or DVDA then for free.

Did you purchase V4 new or upgrade from Vegas Video 3? If the latter, perhaps SoFo will work with you. Upgrade from 3 to Vegas+DVD is only $299 as well. Dang good deal.

Vegas 4 will mix and export 5.1 projects, but in order to encode projects to an AC-3 file, you'll need the plugin. If you would like to purchase the plugin only without DVD Architect, click here.

Ridiculous to purchase AC3 encoder for $279 when you can get both it and DVDA for $299... $20 for a killer DVD authoring app..

That is if it's worth the money...

Hey folks I HAVE EGG ON MY FACE.
Was so excited to be working in V4, I hadn't even opened DVD, so the codec wasn,t registered. Everything is fine now.

I bought the $299 VV4+DVD package, and would like to download and get started with it right away. Do I need a number to register? Can I download the demo and it will be fully functional with this number? I got a receipt via email but no link to download. I did purchase the following:
