AC3 in Vegas Pro 12 (Edit)

Maybe I should have posted my question over here instead of the AC3 Encoder forum which seems to get a post every two months or so. Sorry for the duplicate bytes...

I've checked throughout the web to try to find a definitive answer to this quesiton and finally gave up. So, I thought I'd see is someone has first hand knowledge.

If I get the Vegas Pro 11 upgrade to Vegas Pro 12 Edit (not the full suite) what happens to my AC3 Pro version encoder? I've read that Dolby Digital Pro encoder is only available when the suite is purchased. I've also read that if you have the free DVD-Architect upgrade, the AC3 Pro encoder is included with that.

I guess my real question is when I go to render 5.1-channel files with Vegas Pro 12 (Editor upgrade only), will I be able to do so with the AC3 Pro encoder?

Thanks for your help!

Andy

AC3 encoders install with your DVD Architect, not Vegas, unless something has changed.

A registered version of DVDA Pro should make the AC3 Pro encoder available in any registered version of Vegas Pro.

I have just encountered this problem.

I upgraded to V12; then took the offer of DVDA 6 when it was made; I've since upgraded to the suite (to get Hitfilm and SF10).

Just this afternoon I was rendering out of V12 for DVD, I only had the AC3 Studio option on the audio render. Uninstalling DVDA 6 has allowed V12 to pick up the AC3 Studio Pro with my original customised presets.

It may be my fault for not upgrading in a nice contained fashion, but hey-ho.

When you reinstalled DVD-Arch 6, did V12 still show AC3 Pro as an option? I just want to be sure...

Yes. Uninstalling and re-installing 6 seems to have done he trick. Ac3 studio pro with my presets is available in v12 to render. :)

But, I think ac3 studio pro was dropped in dvda6, so unless you have sf10 or keep dvda5.2 then I,m not sure it will be in v12

Ac3 studio pro

No such thing. Never was.
AC3 Studio
AC3 Pro
Pick one.

Granted, or 'my bad' I believe is the current vernacular. :)

FYI, you don't necessarily have to uninstall DVDA 5.2 to install the free upgrade to 6....I now have both on my machine, which should have kept AC3 intact.
