AC3 Sound file rendering issues - especially no sound

I have not had time to complete any projects for a couple of years. Finally got the chance at the end of 2018 and also upgraded from V13 to V16. There were a few issues during editing, possibly related to hardware, that were not welcome.

However biggest frustration with time running out was to get Dolby AC-3 sound file for Blu Ray disc.

1/ It is not possible to access Options when rendering sound.  This is very inconvenient and seems a critical basic fault as the reason for buying the software is to render sound (and video). I understand this issue has been known for several updates and have logged my own complaint as it still exists.

2/ When rendering Dolby Digital AC-3 files I found there was no sound in my final file.  After great frustration and then searching other forums I found that this fault occurs when Vegas overwrites an existing file. Work around is to delete existing file. Easy when you know but should be unnecessary. I have logged a request for this with support as again seems very basic.

I can understand V13 possibly not coping with Windows 10 completely but V16 should be compatible with it. (I have Win 10 Pro with current updates)

These issues may have been raised before but posting in one spot in hope it saves someone else from the unnecessary frustration I have had.

Possibly slightly off topic but why does DVD Architect have to spend time re compressing the Dolby files. If we could get to the settings is there one that would not require re-compression?

If you rendered the AC3 in an older version of Vegas that has the Dolby Digital AC-3 Pro encoder, it'll pass through DVD Architect like a hot knife through butter.

Render your audio to a WAV file and encode it in Vegas Pro 13 or just let DVD Architect do it.

Thanks for quick response John.

I could vaguely recall it not being issue previously and now I know the reason.

The re-compression takes a few minutes so will just stick with DVD Architect. It was a long few minutes each time though when sorting out an issue and work around with DVD Architect and Win 10, separate post.

Disappointing to see the apparent lack of interest in making outputs reliable.
