I was watching the credits to this movie and thought the effect was kind of neat, and that it could be done in Vegas without any additional software/plug-ins.

Description: This is some action packed text made with Sony Vegas 7 software using only generated media and effects found in any regular copy. The text appears to quickly fly in as a blur, and then, once revealed it slowly zooms in before flying away in another blur.

Excellent stuff. The various blur tools in Vegas are very powerfull if used creatively and that's a good example. What I really like is that you've looked at a problem and worked on it to make it look convincing. I would have done it slightly differently but what the heck, at least we're on the same wavelength.
Don't forget that blur can be used to create a sense of distance as well as motion.

Which reminds me, way back in the V4 days Satish had a pixel smear plug that could be used to great effect for creating the illusion of very fast motion.

very nice. any chance you can make the veg file available?
Jonathan Neal wrote on 8/8/2007, 11:48 AM
The Veg file is available at the bottom, where it says, Download. I'll relabel so others don't get confused either - thank you! You can also use the buttons in the lower right corner to pause the video and advance and retract by individual frames.

Also, I've made (kinda cheesy) a "Scary Text" titler as well @ http://www.jonathantneal.com/vegas/scary-text-01.html

Thanks Jonathan,

You never know when you will need titles like these, or use them as a starting point for a variation.

why a Quicktime post? I thouht at first you linked us to some imovie site. Nice titles.

Thanks guys. The reason it's a Quicktime post is because I used the native MP4 compressor built into Vegas, and Quicktime usually handles MP4 video. Until someone comes up with a very non-hassle way for me to export to FLV (either natively or through frameserver) it has just been an issue of simplicity. It doesn't hurt that the "Action Text" video was only 301KB and the "Scary Text" video was only 96KB. Still, I'd probably prefer FLV in the end, until Flash can read MP4 video like it reads MP3 audio.
