Activation of AAC (MC) failed - please help!

Hi there,

with my Vegas Pro 20 I recently had this issue that makes it impossible to work with the software.

Whenever I try to import any video, an error code says: "the activation of AAC (MC) failed. If you are using the program as a guest, please repeat the activation procedure with administrator rights"

I did that (the administrator rights part), I uninstalled/installed the software numerous times, I uninstalled/installed video drivers, etc, but nothing seems to work!

All this happened after I changed video card (to an AMD 6900XT) and migrated the system to a NVME. Everything else is as it was last week when it worked...

Can someone please help? I'm losing my job over this, not ideal on Christmas day... :(

thanks

Giuliomaria

Uninstalling/re-installing often does not solve many problems that can occur with Vegas Pro for a myriad of reasons. Try resetting Vegas Pro back to its default (factory) settings as per https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/

No guarantees that it will solve the problem, but it's worth a try.

Although I do not have an AMD GPU on my current editing computer, I do recall seeing on this forum that there has been some dissatisfaction with recent AMD GPU drivers with the recommendation to downgrade to an earlier driver. For example, see https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/amd-radeon-rx-6600-rx-6900-xt-and-vega-frontier-seriers-gpu-users--137046/

You may want to do your own forum search for any other recent posts re AMD drivers.

I wouldn't think that migrating to SSD drives would cause this problem - it's only storage after all. But I assume that Vegas Pro is installed on the C drive. There have been a few reports on the forum over the years that problems like this have occurred when VP has been installed on a drive other than the C drive. Please ignore if this is not the case.
