Add Across Tracks Mode

When reading about how to synchronize 3D events on a timeline, the manual refers to using Add Across Tracks mode. This might be a dumb question, but how does one get into this mode? I can't find any other references to it. Thanks in advance for any help.

Shawn

I just read that you can "right click" a movie in the Project Media tab and drag it down to the time line and then select Add Across Tracks. However, when I do that, I can only Add Across Time or Add as Takes, there is never an Add Across Tracks option. Any movie clip on the timeline shows up as both the left and right image.

I also forgot to add that I'm using Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 11 on a Windows 7 machine.

Hey Wehe:

I have Vegas Pro 10, so my features may work differently, but here is one way to add a take across tracks.

Make sure you have some media added to your project. The media should be visible in the Project Media tab.

Left click (not Right-Click) the clip or clips you wish to add.
Drag to the timeline.
A dialog box should pop-up with several options, and one of those options should be "add across tracks."

I don't have a 3D camera so I'm not familiar with those details, but in the non-3D mode this places the media on the timeliine in multiple tracks so that you don't have to do it manually. You could do it manually, but that would be time-consuming if you had a lot of media. In the case of 3D, you would probably need this for every event so it would save time to let Vegas add across tracks.

The Help files can be mighty skimpy on important details for some topics, yet other topics are fully addressed. Frustrating.

Good luck!

Kimberly,

Thanks so much for replying. I gave it a try, but "add across tracks" is not an option (its not even present as a grayed-out option). I do agree with your assesment of their help files. The next step is to ask their tech support.

Thanks again,

Shawn

Actually, i thought the "add mode" menu popup occurs when you right-button drag to the timeline, not left-button.
