Add clips at ruler timecode with a f*cked timecode

Hey guys,

Sorry for this bad title (and for my bad english) but I don't know why my Panasonic GH3 writes wrong timecode in my files or why Vegas Pro 14 doesn't read it correctly.

As you can see in the next screenshots, I have two following files, P1540903.MOV and P1540904.MOV, shot on 8th october 2016, respectively recorded at 12h54min58s and 12h55min16s ("created" date is when I copied the files to my edit HDD so don't pay attention to it and look at "modified" field). First file is 4,800 s long, second file is 7,680 s long.

But if you look at the timecodes (sorry for the length, I was in "time and frames" view), 02:36:06,48 to 02:36:11,38 for P1540903.MOV and 02:36:09,18 to 02:36:17,02 for P1540904.MOV, length is well understood by Vegas, but timecodes don't match and if I use the amazing "add clips at ruler timecode" script writed by Gilles in november 2010, my files are overlapping. In this case, as you can see, it makes me a 2,10 crossfade while I would have, regarding the "modified" field in my file properties, a 18 s (and a little frames) gap...

Understand ?

So, my question is : as a newb in programming, how could I modify gilles' "add clips to ruler timecode" script to use my files' "modified" filed instead of "media.TimecodeIn" ? Because I can do it by myself for a dozen of files, but when I need to synchronize about 100 files with another camera who has recorded all the wedding ceremony (and who doesn't have timecode), it's a little bit complicated 😊

Thanks a lot for your help,

Matt

What format timecode is your timeline set? Is it Drop-frame or non-drop frame?

I tried different timeline formats and I still have my issue

Are you sure this is the timecode on your video? I think the modified fields is showing the date and time the file was transferred to your harddrive. But I could be wrong about that. If I use MEDIAINFO it shows a different date and time that the video was shot. Time that video is shot is not the same as timecode.

I can ensure you that the modified field on my files is the date and time the file was recorded on my SD card, I was in the field at this precise moment, far from my computer.

The time you are showing on your camera is Time of Day and not Timecode. Two different things. Timecode would have Frames. What camera do you use? Does it record TIMECODE or just TIME of Day.

Yep David-tu, I totally understand it's not a timecode but as Vegas Pro 14 can't read correctly the timecode of my files recorded with a Panasonic GH3, I was wondering if it was not possible to interpret this time of day in a script to use with my timeline set on "time" time format.

How about using Plural Eyes to sync the audio, wouldn't that work?

It would be cool but for this project, audio is awfull and Plural Eyes synchronizes only few files...
