Add Hitfilm Effect...

JowaMo wrote on 8/24/2015, 4:18 PM
In Movie Studio Plat 12.0 I am trying to "add a Hitfilm effect", but I keep getting the same error:

"An error occurred during the current operation. The file could not be created."

I have tried doing this with Hitfilm running in the background and not running, but it still doesn't work.

I am using MSP 12.0 and Hitfilm Express v. 2.0.3010.30403 64bit. I am running this on win8.1-64.

I have the same setup and it works. Same HF version, Win 8.1 64 bit. What version of QT do you have?

Quicktime player vs. 7.7.8

I have both HF and MS installed on my D drive, and I have moved all the cache/temp/projects/etc.. folders over to D as well. Could this be causing an issue?

My C drive is an SSD. So I try to keep as many programs off of it as possible.

Ok for some reason it is just not working in the project I have been working on. When I start up a new project it works fine.

Something go screwed up with that project, and it wont allow HF to start.

I had originally installed both programs on my C drive, and then I changed my mind and reinstalled them on my D drive, but I started that project while both programs were still on the C drive.

Could that have messed things up? Is there a way to unmess it up, or do I jsut have to start from scratch?

What type of video clip is it that you are importing into HF?

- did you re-associate the clip so that Movie Studio knows it is on the D drive?
- Have you tried moving it back onto C drive temporarily to see if that works?

It appears that I am not able to add HF effects to a clip that I have made from the trimmer.

I can apply Sony effects to clips from the Trimmer with no issue, but the HF always give me an error with trimmed clips.

Is this normal? I can split the clips and add HF effects no problem. Just not trimmed.

I didn't know that the clip you were trying to add the HitFilm effect to was a clip trimmed using the trimmer. I found that, for some reason, Hitfilm will not open up with a sub-clip.

Every clip I had in the scene was made with the trimmer. So none of them were working with HF. That made it feel like something was broken.

Oh well. That's what I get for not watching tutorials.

Maybe they will add this functionality in a future release.

Thanks for the help guys!
