I've got a Video track on my timeline with Bump Map Fx sync'd to the Beats of the Audio track. Now I want to add a Blur to the start of the Video track so that I can overlay some text (fade in and out).
How do I add the Blur ( fade in and out) to just the first 4-5 seconds of the video?

Two ways. The old way I still do a lot of things: split the event & the points you want the blur to start/stop & add blur FX to that new event.
The new way is add the blur FX to the event & use the "animate" button in the FX properties window to tell it to stop at the point you want.

Okay so I dragged Blur to the Video track, but there are two Animate buttons. Which one do I use? See screen shot http://imgur.com/a/80oxn

Oh, didn't realize V14 changed the way you animate stuff. I was referring to the one on the lower left. :)
