I have been using my VMS 9 with video from my Sony D8 camcorder and haven't had much trouble. Recently, I bought a Hauppauge PVR which directly captures MPEG2-TS clips to my main vid editing machine, listed as my system. I can import the clips into VMS, but when I add them to the timeline everything locks and the dreaded offer to troubleshoot appears. If I choose that option, the editor closes and disappears, never to open until I try to start another project.
Editing SD video works well and I have many disks from video I have captured with my Sony Vid camera, but the MPEG2 TS files from the PVR are a total loss. My only consolation is the OEM Arcsoft Total Media Extreme that came with the PVR works well enough to get me by... but only if I capture short clips that only require end trimming... nothing clipped from the middle. I would surely like to use the VMS to edit these files if it's possible.
Is it something I'm doing wrong? Is it my machine? Is it the particular type of files? Will reinstalling the software help? I'm not well educated in this field... all self taught, so try not to lose me with jargon, please?
Thanks
