Sure. Build the show in Vegas and then send the results to DVDA.

Must concur with John's advice. DVDA doesn't provide a means for transitions. Maybe in version 3.0, but I kind of doubt it. It's kind of an "editing" related function, and that's why we have Vegas. ;)

Edward, maybe John did give good advice somewhere and you've missed it. ;)

Everyone knows you're johnmeyer in disguise. C'mon, fess up. ;-)

Sorry, brain cramp. Just saw the "J" at the front and then filled in the rest. From where, I don't know.

John DOES give good advice. And I DID talk to him last night. Guess that explains it! :-)

Thanks for the feedback. I sorta thought that was my only option but I also remember making a few shows using DVDA only and it worked out fine however, I was unsure if I used transitions but I thought I had.

I posted a request for some assistance in the Vegas forum and got some really good pointers regarding automation of transition inserting between slides but I could not get these to work either as apparently there is some learning curve in applying the plug-in's to Vegas. Wow...

What method have you used in the past to do this? Any tips you can offer me that does not involve using a plug-in??

Much thanks,

Jerry

For straight Vegas, go to Options - Preferences and set the still image length and then turn ON automatic overlaps and set the overlap amount to the length of the desired crossfade.

Funny, that's the exact same thing johnmeyer suggested over on the Vegas forum. Imagine that... ;-)

I sure was wishing the same as you, that transitions were available in the picture compilations. As simple as I found My DVD software, it allowed for 5 or 6 types of transitions between pix or just cuts. On top of that, if I wanted, My DVD would add all the source JPEG files to a Picture Folder on the DVD so I could have them archived directly on the finished DVD product. I'm still trying to find out if DVDA2 allows for that.

It doesn't. When you prepare a project, DVDA asks you to point to / create an empty directory. If there's anything in that directory (such as a subdirectory), DVDA will refuse to prepare the project. The option is for you to use DVDA to prepare your DVD files and then add a directory yourself with all the pictures you want on the DVD. Then use a different program to burn this all to a DVD.

DVDA3, however, at least allows you to specify an "extras" folder for misc non-DVD files.
