Adjust Resizing Algorithm for VCD renders?

Last night I did some experimentations with rendering VCD's from Vegas (3.0a) and comparing them with those I'd done with TMPGEnc and I was pleasantly suprised with the results. The quality of the VV MPEG-1 was on par with what I expect from TMPGEnc and it encoded faster too, so far so good.

What was different between the two however was the sharpness of the picture. TMPGEnc has a great sharpen edge filter, an effect which I've been unable to duplicate in VV and it leaves me with the question. Is there a way of either applying a post resize sharpen filter when rendering as a VCD? Or, can one adjust which resizing algorithm is used? ie: Bilinear, BiCubic (varying degrees of sharpness), etc

Thanks in advance, Brad

Try putting a sharpen filter on the Vegas output-

I'm assuming (yeah I know) that the sharpening effect is occurring pre resizing and encoding of the mpeg file correct? A sharpen filter will have more effect if it's applied after the image is resized.

I wouldn't worry too much about where in the chain the sharpening takes place.
Since the sharpen filter is adjustable, I am pretty sure you will be able to dial in a setting you like. Once you get the look you like, save as a preset.
