Adjusting Audio Volumn

Hello all:

I am fairly new to VV3 and have a question. Can I increase and decrease the volume of audio tracks along the time-line. I am adding background music to my home movies and there are places that I would like to increase the volume of the music and reduce the volume of the voices. Likewise there are places that I would like to reduce the volume of the music to make it easier to hear people talking.

The only way I can think of doing it is splitting the audio files and place them on different tracks with the volume adjusted accordingly. Will this work and if so is there anyway of giving a smooth transition between the two volumes? Is there an easier way?

Thanks, any help is appriciated.

Select the audio track

From the menu
Insert - Audio Envelopes - Volume.

Then you can right click on the dark line in the middle of the audio track to add points where you can raise and lower the volume where ever you want.

AND I do have a question regarding this too: I know I can "lock" the envelope on the track which permits me, from there, to move the actual sound track without moving the envelope (volume envelope) itself. How do we do that?
