Adjusting Audio Volumn

Hello all:

I am fairly new to VV3 and have a question. Can I increase and decrease the volume of audio tracks along the time-line. I am adding background music to my home movies and there are places that I would like to increase the volume of the music and reduce the volume of the voices. Likewise there are places that I would like to reduce the volume of the music to make it easier to hear people talking.

The only way I can think of doing it is splitting the audio files and place them on different tracks with the volume adjusted accordingly. Will this work and if so is there anyway of giving a smooth transition between the two volumes? Is there an easier way?

Thanks, any help is appriciated.

I responded to your message in the VideoFactory forum. Use the audio envelopes. See other message for instructions.

just highlight the audio track and press the 'v' key on ur keyboard. u will see a line(which is the vol envelope) running in the middle of the track. then right click mouse to add points that need to adjust the volumn. u can also do panning on a stereo audio track with the pan envelope as well.
good luck
