Adobe End of Lifes Encore

Great news for DVD architect users.

Personally, I deliver on DVD all the time. I don't agree that there should not be a DVD authoring solution from Adobe.

Having said that, I was never a fan and prefer DVDA to this day.

What good alternatives are there for menu based SD and HD videos? Are people not interested in menus?

I have a hardware media player that plays BD .iso files with menus, but have not found a solution for the PC that works for me. (DVDFab Media Player does not work for me, and I dislike the yearly licence in any case.)

I don't use Encore because it insists on re-encoding my AVCHD files, but am sorry to see it sidelined, all the same. I had hoped to see improvements to it.

Many people on this forum have declared that SCS has sidelined DVD Architect for some time, so those who want menus are being squeezed into a corner. (I can't bring myself to use "end of life" as a verb.)

Indeed effective end of life development for Encore and DVDAPro was really reached at the same point in history. There are good reasons from the corporate stand-point of both parent companies for doing this.
Primary reason is the current prosumer market is not large or robust enough to support these development costs as they were borne by the parent companies in previous better economic years.
This is leaving a big hole for further progress. Sony did choose a route alternative which is purchase of Do-Studio for lowcost Blu-ray authoring.

"Do-Studio for lowcost Blu-ray authoring"

But not low enough for the man (sorry, person) in the street.

Adobe sidelined Audition for a while, but brought it back. Just maybe ...

Sign of the times. I guess. While I only authored a couple of discs in Encore when I was trying out the 30 free subscription to their Creative Cloud, I was impressed with how much more professional it was compared to DVDA. Even pop-up meus on Blu-rays could be done with it. But alas, I'm so used to editing with Vegas, I just didn't want to switch.

As a part-time wedding videographer, I'll always need to send out DVD's and Blu-ray, so I hope Sony doesn't follow suit.

Worst case scenereo for DVDA is that they don't release another one. If you already own it you can still use it. Those people who got Encore via the cloud are SOL.

Yeah, that's true.
