Hey Everyone -
I'm a post studio in NY and we do ADR using both Pro Tools and Vegas. I, personally, use Vegas and I'm wondering if there are any other people out there who do ADR commercially for projects that won't be mixed in-house.
The reason:
When you do ADR, EVERYONE (well, 99%) wants a Pro Tools session at the end. They might want choice takes, but they will also want the project with all the takes saved in Pro Tools so they can open it to find alternate takes. Normally I use EDL Convert Pro to convert Vegas projects to OMF or Pro Tools sessions, but the tricky part here is:
I loop record many takes into the same event. I want to pick my takes and have Vegas spread them across tracks for each scene. I don't believe there is a fool-proof way to get convertability (is that a word?) with Vegas event-takes so you can see them in Pro tools.
So, in a nut shell: I want the audio and all takes and the quicktimes as a Pro Tools session. Anyone encountered this predicament before? Are there scripts to strip the takes from the events and lay them across multiple tracks and delete any unused takes? (actually, I have a script for that part...).
Curious to hear people's experiences...
thanks in advance.
Charles.
