advance tutorials. Using 3D camera and masking.

Can we get more Sony Vegas Pro 9 advance tutorials. Using 3D camera and masking. There are a lot of pro consumer video tutorials out there the shows basic work. But, not a lot of real world advance 3 D camera composting or masking. The Sony website only has basic beginner videos.

Now if you go to the big 3 Avid, Adobe and Apple. They are showing real world projects. More examples,we need more advance tutorial on using the 3 D cameras. I had to figure these types of camera moves.

As far as I know Vegas does not have a 3D camera as such.

Masking works pretty much the same as it does in any other application e.g. AE.

I know absolutely nothing about it but Make3D v1.1.5.2 3D Video Production Toolkit release was a recent post that might be worth looking into.

Vegas has the equivalent of a 3D camera. Instead of plotting the camera route as you would in Motion in FCP, in n Vegas you create a 3D bin, and in that bin, you would have all your 3D tracks. Imagine if you are looking at a box, so instead of moving the camera around the box, the camera is locked down and you are rotating the box. The final effect is the same. So with regards to your U-Tube video clip, you can accomplish that quite easily in Vegas.

vegas's 3d is more like a 3d app except that you don't move the view camera, you move all the 3d objects in 3d space.

Vegas's "3D' is not remotely like a 3D application.
The objects are not 3D, they're 2D planes.
Vegas does not have a camera as such, cameras have optics.
Even 2.5D compositing applications have 3D lighting that Vegas lacks. You can simulate that but it's a heck of a lot of work as the tools do nothing to help you.

the "planes" in vegas work just like they do in blender....
Rory Cooper wrote on 8/19/2009, 10:58 PM
Quite right Bob about the camera optics, I think the main point being said is that as video compositors go Vegas has the ability to use video and 2d text in 3d space equal to the utube example…

3D aps do their bit and are limited in their composite abilities, even on some good 3D aps you will render out your
Animation in layers so that you can do a final comp in a NLE because each to its own

Agreed, that YouTube example would be relatively simple to do in Vegas, tedious but nothing unduly complex although I do find doing HD comps in Vegas too tedious for my tastes.

I was talking in the broader context of what the OP was talking about. The three As bundle up some pretty capable applications in their packages. If you simply limit it to their NLEs then indeed Vegas is miles ahead. I'm still sorry nothing much ever came of the deal between SCS and Mirage years ago.

Yes guys I agreed...I was hoping they expand on the 3 D and the masking tools. Add cameras and lights. Just like Apple Motion adding 3 D several releases ago. With Final Cut Pro 7 improving on speed change, alpha transitions, and smoothcam and the recently added Motion templates. I see a quick leap forward with Final Cut Pro Studio. With the Mac and Final Cut Studio price dropping…I do see change coming.

With those prices dropping and a new Mac/Final Cut Studio they adding everything you need to produce a full fledge motion picture at home in your basement.

I notice Apple, Avid and Adobe is constantly buying other companies core technology then adding to their main programs. Sony Vegas have a big following on You Tube/Digital Juice and others, but they need to buy AutoDesk Combustion or Studio 3 D Production and add their core technology to the program to keep that group from leaving.

Those companies aren’t doing anything with those programs. If Sony can add any of those 2 programs technology to Vegas and speed up the workflow. Sony Vegas would become a full fledge 3 D composting program.

....., Sony Vegas would become a full fledge 3 D composting program.

I sure hope not, got apps that do it quite well ,a rock solid editor is what I want Vegas to be

I do too...but I see the workflow that the big 3 have. I use After Effects.
But...looking at what Apple is doing. I see the change is coming.

They cut prices on Shake, Mac and Final Cut Studio. Brought other technology then infusion them into Final Cut Studio then lower the price again.

Adobe is doing the same thing, took Serious Magic technology and slowly infusing them into Adobe CS series.
