Advanced capture mark-in/out grayed out. Help!

Trying batch capture for the first time. Apologies in advance if this is a dumb question. In the advanced capture window, mark-in/out, timecode dropdowns, etc. are all grayed out. I'm using a Sony DCR-PC105 with Vegas 4.0. The tape plays in the preview window and all tape controls are working. When I first open video capture I get an error dialog: "Warning: An error occurred during the current operation. The application does not support this file type." I am able to capture the entire tape without a hitch. I'm using Video Capture Xpress 4.0e build 239. Thanks.

Express? You should have the full build with Vegas 4, how is it that you got the Express version? I don't know that you have Advanced Capture in the Express version.

When you start the capture utility and Vegas is not open, it'll be the express version. You need to open Vegas and start the capture app from Vegas.

This is true and I have mentioned this in the past that when you run the Vegas 4 VidCap stand alone it is the "express" version. But other people said they did not have the issue. But you want to hear somehting funny? With Vegas 5, when it first came out, I tried it and the VidCap was *not* the demo but the full version, even in stand alone mode. Even after the Demo timed out after like 20 hours the full version of VidCap remained usable.

Nat- I opened capture from the Vegas 4.0 menu. The title bar says Sony Video Xpress. Any suggestions? Thanks. Rob

So filmy, is the full version of Video Capture a seperately purchased program?

Not anymore. I think that stoped with version 2? VidCap comes with Vegas and when you run it from within Vegas it should open fine. However if you run it from outside of Vegas it does open in "xpress" mode...which, as I said, I have never been able to figure out.
