Yes, after you have rendered out using "make movie" it makes ONE movie. You don't go add to that rendered movie. You open the previous project, the one you used to make that movie, and THERE is where you add more things.

If you instead want to add that rendered movie as part of another project, then you must manually split your movie into smaller chunks.
