After my first couple of weeks on Vegas...

Of course, with the snapping function of VegasPro, dragging a clip on the timeline by its tail and butting it to another clip's head is in no way a chore, even when the sync point is on a different track.

Bay, this is where we basically agree but it does require using the mouse to complete the edit and is at least a two step process. I was hoping for a single step keyboard command. I am running Vegas 8b.

Hi Erik

Yes, I'm fine, thanks. I eased out of edit* and into Vegas over several weeks, and very quickly swapped from being an edit* evangelist to a Vegas evangelist. Yes, or course there are differences - it is after all software based! I found that by treating the changeover process as a relearning experience rather than trying to adapt from one NLE to another, I was able to focus on the Vegas strengths and quickly settle into a different headspace. About the only thing I had to change to fit my old ways was the arrow keys - I just had to know that no matter how zoomed out my timeline was, when I belted them arrow keys I only moved one frame.

So, yes, I am loving Vegas. I have a Tascam FW-1082 mixer with motorized faders that talks to Vegas - very cool. And I tried some footage from the EX-1 the other day, as I was worried about how my laptop was going to handle the HD files when I upgrade my camera. It not only played fine, but the quality brought a smile to my face that is still there weeks later. I'm finding it very hard to wait for the next project to justify the camera upgrade.

Hope your transition ends up being as much fun as mine.

Regards

"I'm finding it very hard to wait for the next project to justify the camera upgrade." . .

Was it ever thus.
