Video Factory doesn't demand much from video cards. I doubt you would notice any speed difference unless your existing video card is either very bad or very old.

If you can tell me about your current card (and monitor) and what card are you planning to buy, maybe I can elaborate on the differences.

I agree with discdude, VideoFactory doesn’t require a high end graphics card and you won’t see much improvement from today’s new 3D video card because VF is only doing 2D, but think ahead. You might want to get into adding 3D effects some day and then your choice of video card might matter. Many FX programs like ParticleIllusion SE use OpenGL so you’ll want a video card that has a good OpenGL implementation. You may find yourself getting into adding some 3D titles using a simple package like Ulead Cool3D which uses DirectX and will take advantage of everything your new 3D card has to give. Think about the kind of videos you do and where your video work might take you in a year or two (it’s very addictive you know ;-) ) and then decide. You can’t go wrong with one of the new nVidia or Radeon cards.

If you go with nVidia, stay away from the MX series. The GeForce4 MX performs worse than the GeForce3! I just got the GeForce4 Ti4200 for Christmas and I’m very happy with it. Programs like ParticleIllusion SE and Ulead Cool3D perform very well with it. Good luck,
