Aiptek Action HD video camera codec support?

Curious why their H264 codec for these video camera's isn't supported by Vegas PRO. It's a pain to have to convert them everytime I need to edit the videos taken with this camera. Seems like a pretty popular camera too since the price is very affordable at around $200.

Is there any plan to support this codec?

Or am I missing something?

thx

Actually it is supported by current Vegas version. Just Vegas 6.0 is way bit too old. Besides this - on Windows systems it's no fun editing Quicktime H.264 files like the Aiptek ones natively. Such H.264 plays worse than AVCHD does.

You will need something more current than VP6, but even with VP8 you have to prep the files from the GOHD. You will find instructions here.

Thanks for the replies. Right now I'm using Any Video Converter Pro and converting them to MPEG-4 x264 which is working fine for my needs. However, I'd rather not have to do ANY converting. Guess it's not meant to be, eh?

For someone who's not too knowledgeable in video editing, etc., can someone enlighten me as to why Vegas has a hard time with this codec.

Arc Soft Total Media Extreme (that came with the camera) can handle them, and heck even Google's Picasa 3 can play these videos.

Thanks. :)

Playing them is one thing.
Editing them is another :-(
Formats like Divx and Xvid can be played with a wide range of media players.
Editing them with Vegas (and a lot of other NLEs) can be an exercise in frustration/futility.
Do a search here and you'll see what I mean.
