Ah, sheesh!

Same, same.

WinXP SP1, 1.7 GHz, 512 megs RAM, 180GB hd just for video. Pioneer 105, updated firmware. No, the -RW's don't work either. Same error code.

The "prep directory" works perfectly.

This is really bad. My wife is supposed to deliver DVDs to her clients this week. We can *not* keep buying random software packages till we bump into one that doesn't glitch.

Sure hope they figure this out.

At what speed are you guys burning? I had the same problem when i tried to burn using my Pioneer A04 at 2x. I did the exact same burn at 1x and had no problem.
I have WinXP HOME SP-1a.

The only person other than me who mentions the speed of the burn said they set it to 1x and it worked fine. This is the same thing i said quite a few posts ago.

I really think it has to do with the speed of the burn.

Is anyone listening.......

I have yet to successfully burn a DVD-R in 1X or 2X with DVD-A. I did get a response from SF tech support indicating they are aware of the problem and are working on it. I'm sure they will work out something but I've decided to move on.

I downloaded a trial of Nero to burn my discs. So far, 100 percent success burning DVD-A authored discs with Nero (at least six or seven discs so far). Given that success, I decided get a copy of Nero and landed a deal on E-Bay for $18.00, which is worth it if I don't have coasters. I'll be able to use the demo until the end of February or until my copy arrives.

I'd prefer to keep everything under one roof with DVD-A but Nero seems to offer some features that ensure better writing results. After making six coasters with DVD-A, I'm not comfortable making additional attempts, even if the bug is reported fixed.

I failed with my first DVD-R at 1x. I failed in test mode on a -RW at 1x and 2x.

Maybe the following, from Nero's support area, may apply. I suspect it applies to those of us who can't get Nero to work properly, and it might help with DVD-A. I am not at home and can not experiment.

"On some systems Nero and e.g. Easy CD / DirectCD can coexist only if the file SCSI1HLP.VXD is removed from the system."

The help page is at http://www.nero.com/en/index.html#c1002822798638, the topic is "Handling conflicts with other CD recording software."

Looks interesting.

Just to clarify about the Nero-vs.-EasyCD issue: I use Nero, and don't have Easy-CD on my computer.

Also, I (try to) burn at 1x... in fact, I'm not even offered the option of burning at 2x.

I use -R and -RW media, with my Pioneer A04. Nero burns 'em just fine, but DVDA fails to burn. I love DVDA anyway, just as a design-and-build (not burn) package.

I will probably use DVD-A more in the future but for now I like Dazzle. I kinda like the no brainer wizard it has. Also Dazzle's been rock soild for me. I have burned at least 200 DVD's with zero coasters using Dazzle. I upgraded to Vegas 4.0 with DVD mostly for the AC-encoder that comes with the package. I am confident that Sonic Foundry will work out the bugs that you are speaking of soon.

We have discovered the bug that is causing this problem. A DVD Architect update will be posted within the next few weeks which will contain a fix for this problem. If you need a fix for this immediately, please contact Tech Support by phone: 608.204.7704 from 9am to 11:30 am, and again from 12:30pm to 5pm Central Standard Time. We can zip a couple of files for you and send them to you via email. Again, the soon to release update will contain a fix to this problem, so if you can wait a bit, the application will be patched up shortly.

Joshua and the developers allowed my wife and me to serve as testers for the new files, and they work great! They solve the problem with failing to write readable disks and also allow the disks to play on computer software players as well as stand-alone ones.

Call and get the files, or wait for the patch, but you will be well pleased, either way. Those folks really put a lot of attention on this, and they got it right.

Cheers,
Peyton

Hi all,

It is a great news to have reproduce and found this bug.

Just a question to SOFO : regarding the DVDA threads we are a lot of users whose complain to do not succeed writing to RW.

Can you provide these files in a beta version on your web sites ? This will be used at our own risk and will help you to do not zip and email to all of us all day long. ;-)

Thanks a lot for your attention to this bug.

Bye

SUCCESS!!!

Just wanted to report that the patch worked great for me. In addition, I've noticed that the menu and 5.1 surround work better when using DVD-A to burn versus Nero. Not sure why this is but my menus are smoother and for whatever reason, I was getting no rear speaker output with the Nero-burned DVDs.

If there are a couple of files available to fix this, why doesn't SF just post them so we can download instead of having them e-mailed? Also are these files a temporary fix? Will the upcoming patch still be needed? Would waiting for the patch be a better choice?

Scroll up. Under Support/updates at the very top of THIS page white text, black background you'll find a link to all the latest versions of all the SoFo products. You can tell if or not you have the latest version already on your computer by clicking on help then about in the online help system. Compare the build and version you have to what's currently offered on the web site.

BTW, they aren't patches, rather full new versions, so can take awhile to download if you don't have broadband.

I am getting this same problem in CD Architect, the following error:

i have also posted messages on the CDA forums, and have yet to hear anything back about it.

However, if it has been fixed in DVDA, perhaps a similar patch could be created to address the situation in CDA?

I seem to see this problem in reference to Pioneer drives... rwsjr with an A04, myself with a 105...

I have expirienced the same problems with mine A05, firmware 1.33

I'm running Win XP pro w/all the updates, Optorite DD0203 Firmware 2.16, Maxell & Sony DVD+RW.
DVD architect is giving me the same "Module sfmmcx.cpp" error that's been posted previously.

THIS IS AFTER DOING THE '1.0C' UPDATE!

What else could be the issue?
