Alesis Firewire Mixer, Laptop, & Vegas Audio

I am wanting to buy an HP Notebook:
DuoCore intel
1gb DDR Ram
120gb Sata drive
w/firewire input

load it up with Vegas 7.0, and record live using only an ALESIS Multimix 16 Firewire mixer.

Will Vegas recognize the Alesis?

All info I can find is that the Alesis uses a light Cubase version.

Can anyone at Sony confirm that Vegas will "see" the mixer?
And how many tracks might be supported?
thanks.

I believe others in the video forum have reported these units working OK with Vegas. That said I can see no reason why you couldn't use Cubase to record and then edit in Vegas.

The Phonic FW mixer shows up just fine in V7. No reason to think the Alesis would, unless it's drivers are broken !

Hi Geoff,

What is a Phonix FW mixer?
The mixer driver for the Multimix?

And did you mean "No reason the think the Alesis WOULDN'T"?

If so...thanks.
