It depends on how you're creating your titles and overlays. (And what specifically you mean by "overlays".)

Also please note which project properties you're using for your video.

Or maybe I'm not understanding the question. When you say that the title "doesn't match the size" of the still, are you saying that the text bleeds off the edge or doesn't fit over the slide? Or are you talking about the length (duration) of the title on your timeline?

This feature may only be in the Pro version, but give it a try as it may work.

Turn off ripple editing. Doubleclick the picture to select it as a loop region. You'll see that a vertical swath of the timeline containing that picture is now highlighted. Right-mouse-button click in the text overlay track and from the popup menu choose Insert Text Media. A new text event will be added that exactly matches the length of the highlighted area.

Sorry, Steve, for not making myself clear with my terminology - I am new to Vegas and still finding my way. Chienworks, your suggestion has worked like a dream - I wish I'd known how to do this some weeks ago - it would have saved me no end of hassle. Thanks a lot - bambino
