All my camera footage is soft

Cooldraft wrote on 11/19/2010, 4:39 PM
I thought that this was my vx2100 (stop laughing) but I started using my standby (TRV940). I just noticed that I have to use the sharpen tools to get my video to where it needs to be. Are my eyes that bad? I can tell a major difference when I sharpen in post. Is it a setting in vegas that is softening to keep up woth preview (I am running at Best->auto) Here is a sample

The bottom sample seems severely oversharpened.

Might also help to turn Best (Auto) off...

Perrone is correct.
Any FX adjustments should be done at Best/Full.

Wonder if increasing the contrast instead of sharpness would have made your original look better? It looks more blah than blurry to my eyes.

Your preview is only displaying 1/4 of the project pixels.

Hi all,

m2t files from my HC9E suffers the same problem.
If I increase the contrast like +3 or +4 it looks sharper!
What may cause it ? Humidity in the atmosphere?

I use zebra 70% and let the whites and yellows exceed just a little bit!

Is there any way to record more contrasty like +4??

What?

70% zebras are for setting caucasion skin tones, not for setting whites. Set your whites to 92-95.

And no, changing your contrast doesn't increase your sharpness. You're just recording a poor image.
