All new tracks start at 4.5 db?

Hi, I recently upgraded to Vegas 20.0, I'm on Build 214.
Every time I start a new project, the master volume is up at 4.5 db.
The same thing happens in any project whenever I add a new audio track, it defaults to being 4.5 db instead 0 db.

Did I accidentally set this as a preference somewhere? I've been using Vegas for nearly 10 years and have never had anything like this happen before.

That's weird ...

1. Go to Internal Preferences (Shift+Options) and search 'volume'. Is the default set at 1.00000 as it with mine?

2. In the View menu, check the Audio Bus Tracks option (the Master audio option) and on its entry on the timeline see if it is set at zero db.

Volume was set to 1.678804. Not sure how that happened, I never really touch the Internal Preferences. Thanks for clearing that up!

@Matthew-Hall If you changed the volume on an audio track, and then right-click the track header and choose "Set Default Track Properties,,,", that would have changed it to the volume you set.

Ah, I very well may have done that. Appreciate the info!

Other volume options include an audio event 'Gain': drag the top bar of the event down to attenuate) which btw, can be used to recover clipped 32 bit (floating point) source audio.
'Normalize' is another audio event option: right-click the event and select 'Properties>'Normalize'), the default is 0.01dBFS, though there is an option to change it in the "Options> Preferences> Audio" menu.
.. Assuming VP-20 still has these settings from the legacy versions.
