Altered velocity looks terrible

Anytime I alter the velocity of a video clip in Vegas
Video, whether it be slower or faster, the quality of the
video changes. Like things will appear blurred or get a
small stop-motion affect to them. Or sometimes blackness
will strobe lightly across the screen.
Is it just my computer, or is this normal? And if so, is
there any way to fix this?

Rock,

That behavior is definately not normal. Check/fix the
following things to possibly rectify the problem:

1. First check that you've upgraded to DirectX 8.0a.
2. Make sure you have DirectX Media Runtime 6.0 installed.
3. Make sure you're running VV on Win 98 SE or above.
4. Upgrade Vegas to the latest version.
5. Upgrade your video card to the latest drivers.
6. See if your clip is MPEG (this format sometimes looks
odd and jittery in the preview window, but no harm is
actually being done)
7. Render an AVI clip using the effect. Does the final
product still look odd?

Try those things and see if they help. I'll continue to
monitor this thread for your response.

I have all of those already done.

When I'm editing, it usually looks fine in the preview
window I have. But after rendering it to an AVI and putting
it on a tape (NTSC DV), I notice those annoyances.

I thought I remember a thread about this from a while ago
(before the topic called for my needed), and someone
mentioned resampling. What is that or what does it do?

The only thing that ended up working for me was to do a
clean install of everything. REformat and everything. But
before you do that, use the "resample" switch
under "Custom" when you go to "Render As..."

That seemed to fix it all for me. You might want to update
any system drivers, as well, or bios updates for
motherboard or video cards, etc.

Try turning on resampling for the event with the velocity
envelope on it-
