I don't know of one cheaper than TMPGenc Mastering Works. I haven't tested that, but it's probably functional.

Make sure you turn off the preview feature in HDVSplit, as that can cause problems.

You can run your .m2t files through MPEG2Repair, which should give them a better chance of not crashing Vegas.

Try recording without files being Split-ed automatically. Do this later after whole-tape recording is done.
Perhaps that can help making files more 'crash-safe'

Guys,
I have preview off, and no splitting. Still have problems. Will try MPEG2Repair and look into TMPG also.

Regards,
Jerry

If you're referring to a GY-HD110, I feel your pain. I keep a copy of Vegas 8 installed on one system just for capturing from my JVC cam. Vegas 8 captures the m2t perfectly and the footage is smooth to work with in Vegas 9 through 12. Vegas 9 had issues with reliable capture from this camera and I get nada in versions 10-12. Cam not even recognized. You might want to try downloading a copy of Vegas Pro 8 before spending anything.

I use HDVSplit with out issues with Vegas 10. It seems that HDV capturing isn't nearly as nice as DV capturing is. The detection of the camera is less reliable from what I can tell. some times I have to have the camera off and turn it on after I turn on the program.

Larry,
I have 8, but haven't installed it. I'll give it a try.

Thanks,
Jerry
