Alternatives to Sony Acid

I've asked before but recent workflow problems with Acid have me definitely looking for an alternative. I want something that is good with loops and midi and is easy to record with (my current nightmare with Acid). People who used to use Acid - what did you switch to and why? Thanks.

There is some evidence in this post on the Acid forum that a new version may be on the way.

Thanks, at this point I'm not sure I want to wait for Acid 8. Too much trouble recording anything with V7 and too often it just stops working. V8 would have to be as innovative and bug free as as the original to be of interest. Can't see either being achieved.
