Alternatives to Vegas?

This is a virtual community of die hard Vegas fans.
I am one of them and have been since BS, before Sony.
For speed Vegas is hard to beat.
I love it for cranking out projects on a tight timeline.
But it has some room to grow, right?
So, what else are we using.
Final Cut Pro X looks interesting, Vegas like in some ways.
But a lot more steps to do anything.
Don't want to have to go Mac if I don't have to.
What of CS6, and Adobe?
Are there others?
Just thinking out loud.

I haven't found an alternative to Vegas and if they fixed it wouldn't look for alternatives, but have been. Magix video pro x5 comes closest, PP next in line. Don't want to pay the Mac tax. Wish Corel would revive and fix Media Studio Pro. The problem with the consumer programs is they don't have separate source preview windows, so you can't easily match eyelines. AMC is painfully outdated, hate the interface on Edius and that you need another card for full size preview, close analogy to Lightworks is Hans Christian Andersen's story of the kings new clothes.
