Always wanted to ask this but keep forgetting

PAL progressive scan..
Vegas sees it as Interlaces lower field first.. even though i KNOW the source is progressive..

always wondered why it saw it this way, and i always thought it was the 2:2 pulldown which is used in PAL land (as opposed to to 2:3 and 2:3:3:2 )

wonder if there is a way to get Vegas to do a remove 2:2 pulldown??
I know i can set it to 24p and get auto removal, and i know i can proly just set my project settings to Pal Progressive 25p with deinterlacing turned off.. (what i do now) but i was just wondering why its like this...

I think it's because no tape system supports true 25p, it's always recorded as 50i. This matters not of course, unlike 24p where processing that as 60i can produce some oddball results.

I'd suggest you manually change your media's properties to 25p and run your project as None (progressive scan). That's how Vegas does 720-25p. You can save that as a preset.

yeah thought as much Bob, Thats what i been doing since V4.. lol i just wish there wa a way to recognise the material within the clip properties or something as the only way to really tell the difference at this time is to look at the stream running at full frame, and look at the motion and resolution (PS 25p makes a huge difference IMO and is easily differentiated to 50i) but sometimes even this can be difficult when rushed..

a remove 2:2 pulldown would be great... but alas...
