Am I missing out applying effects with Vegas instead of soundforge?

Since I bought Vegas 2.0 way back, I've been using apply non realtime event effects to add effects to my waves. I was sitting in on a session at another local studio and the engineer was using logic audio and applying effects with soundforge and says that it's cleaner than using my method and that there are alot of things I'm missing out on. He didn't explain exactly what. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Should I buy soundforge also?Isn't vegas basically soundforge w/ more features?

It's cleaner? and you're missing out on a lot of things? Hmmmm....I'ld be interested in hearing the theory in that one also. Never heard anything like that. Your method is probably better, because it will come up as an undo option in the Undo menu within Vegas. You're also running only 1 app on your system, instead of 2. The only thing you're missing out on, would be features that are in Sound Forge, and are not in Vegas. If you're just applying DX FX's using the apply non realtime FX feature, you're not gaining anything by opening the same wavefile in Sound Forge and applying the FX there....well besides extra time for the .Wav to be imported into Sound Forge, then the extra time to click the save button in Sound Forge....so, if saving time is what you're missing out on, I think you're probably doing it the best way.

?? Eh... cleaner in what way?
Maybe it was just cleaner for him to use SF effects on wav files, saving them, and using these files with saved effects in Logic, than using Logics' own effects in real time.
Or maybe he just doesn't know things...

hmmm...."cleaner" is a subjective term, perhaps the engineer meant that it was easier to apply a process to a file in the digital sense because it happened silently and then you could hear the result. On the other hand, had he used a real machine to process his audio, he would have the option of witnessing the effect as it was being created.

I think the dude is yet to make the mental juimp, and has little understanding of non-destructive editing. In Vegas or Logic.
