Am I using my project settings incorrectly?

Hello all,

My primary use of Vegas Pro is editing video game footage from livestreams and local recordings via the use of OBS. When I record the content I have two video streams that get captured, the primary canvas that gets beamed out and live streamed and the canvas of just the game itself via the use of a Source Record filter.

The first video file is in the format of 1080p60 and contains multiple audio channels so I can separate individual microphones, soundboard notifications and and game audio that is auto-ducked to the level of the mics making 80% of that audio useless for post editing.

The other video file is in the format of 2160p60 and has just the game audio that is not touched by the auto-ducking that gets sent out to the livestream. Due to how the filter works to get the footage, I can't tell it to capture anything less than the source of the footage so it's always at 4k.

When I edit, I am using the 2160p footage first and set my Vegas Pro canvas to match, then I drag in my other elements. My PC tends to run a little slow when scrubbing footage though and I believe its because of the 4k footage(When I need to see a specific point or a section with any type of transition of effect I have to highlight about 8-12s of footage and shift-B to ensure it's what I want). My end export for all projects is 1080p59.94fps. Since I am going to just export 1080p and not 4k, would it be better to keep the canvas at 1080p while using the 4k footage?

@SnarfConsortium Yes I think. Ideally your project should be the same as your export choice, this way what you see & do in editing should be correct when you come to render.

If you have no plan to export at 4K I don't see any issue with editing at 1080p.
